SYNOPSIS: 288 pages. A collection of six stories by W. Somerset Maugham. William Somerset Maugham (1874 - 1965) was a British playwright, novelist and short story writer. He was among the most popular writers of his era and reputedly the highest paid author during the 1930s. Contains the short story "The Letter" which was the basis for the film of the same name that starred Bette Davis.

Format: Hardback. No dust jacket. NOT an EX LIB.

Condition:
VG. Brown boards, black lettering, in good condition w/ moderate rubbing, bumping, & soiling. Soiling to page edges. Volume has a slight forward tilt, front over back (pictured). Inner pages very age yellowed, occasional small edge chip, & blank endpages tanned. Binding split at front cover with binding mesh showing, but still tightly bound. Photos illustrate condition of overall volume.
