SYNOPSIS:  307 pages. Juvenile story about a girl during the English Civil War.

Publisher: The Macmillan Company, New York. A 1924 reprint of the original 1906 copyright, stated "Set up and electrotyped. Published September 1906."

Format: Hardback. No dust jacket. NOT an EX LIB.

Condition: Volume in Poor condition. Navy blue cloth boards with gold foil lettering. Boards have heavy soiling, bumping to corners and edges, spine cover tanned. Inner pages very yellowed with age and foxed. Personal inscription inside front cover: "To (student's name) for Spelling Headmarks. Miss (teacher's name), Teacher 1925-1926-1926-27. age___."  Also initials written in ink on inside back cover at top. First title page is loose and laid-in, indicates "Every Boy and Girl Series" at top. Frontispiece. The sentiment by the author published on the page across from the copyright page (pictured) states:

"TO EVERY LITTLE GIRL WHO HAS WISHED
FOR AN HOUR TO BE A LITTLE BOY,
THIS STORY IS DEDICATED BY HER FRIEND THE AUTHOR." 

Tightly bound. Few editions this early remain.
